On Wednesday, Islamabad United beat Lahore Qalanders by 5 wickets. Here is the ball-by-ball analysis and scorecard of the match.
A half century from the veteran Aussie, Brad Haddin and a 3 wicket haul from a larger than life player, Mohammed Irfan was enough to end the Qalander’s campaign for the HBL PSL by 5 wickets at Dubai. The Qalanders had to win to keep their hopes alive but at the expense of the loss by them, qualified the Karachi Kings; even though they lost their game earlier in the day.
With the qualification in the hands of the Qalanders, they got to the worst possible start as 3 wickets fell in 3 over to stop their bus at 6 for 3. But a partnership from Umar Akmal and Sohaib Maqsood of 97 from 80 balls in which Akmal blasted 72 of 49 and Maqsood stroking a 57 0f 44 balls to create a counter attack which took the score to 150 for 5 at the end of the first 20 overs of the match. Irfan was the pick of the bowlers, ending with figures of 4-0-22-3.
United did not have the start they were predicting as 2 wickets fell early but Brad Haddin and Khalid Latif put the bus of United back on the highway to victory with a 69 run stand. Even though Haddin was runout for 54 off 42 balls but the captain Misbah-ul-Haq put the icing on the cake, blasting a 19-ball 38 with seven fours to take Islamabad home in 19 overs.
