Today, Islamabad United beat the Karachi Kings by 5 wickets. Here is the ball-by-ball analysis and scorecard of the match.
Misbah-ul-Haq, Khalid Latif and Asif Ali chipped in with 30’s as United easily cruised to a 5 wicket victory against the Kings at Sharjah. The pitch of Sharjah looked much duller than usual but with its general shine so this offered spinners a premier platform to show their talents. This win meant that United were bounced tot the 3rd position behind Gladiators and Zalmi.
Chasing a low key target of 129, United lost early wickets but Misbah (38) and Latif (33) stitched a patient 63-run partnership to lead a recovery. Once Latif of dimissed, Asif Ali gave a thrust empowering United over the line with 7 balls to spare. Sohail Khan was the pick of Karachi’s bowlers, taking 2 for 23.
Earlier in the day, the Kings were sent into bat and suffered by the wrath of 2 opening spinners as they fell to 2 for 3 in the first 2 over. The deja vu was back for the Kings fans as once again Ravi Bopara flew in to save the day, as he had done many times in the tournament, held the innings together with a vital 45. Shahzaib Hasan scored 27 off 19 balls and Mushfiqur Rahim blitzed a 27-ball 33, but a total of 128 for 5 never really seemed enough for a improving and explosive batting line like United.
