HBL PSL Match 12 – Kings vs Qalanders

Hey Guys,

Yesterday, the Karachi Kings beat the Lahore Qalanders by 27 runs. Here is the ball-by-ball analysis and scorecard of the match.

Ravi Bopara lifted his game to a new level by scoring a 43 ball 71 not out after a devastating innings against Zalmi a day before that. The 71 was supported by 6 for 16 by him with the bowl to help the Kings to stun the Qalanders in Sharjah. Bopara’s all round performance put him at the top of PSL runs table as well as the wickets chart to get the Kings their second win. The Qalanaders, meanwhile, are rooted to the bottom of the table with only a solitary win in five matches.

The Qalanders, were on the avenue to chase down 179 with a rapid start from Cameron Delport and Chris Gayle who was back after recovering from the flu. The openers knocked of 90 runs in the first 10 over with ease. Delport then launched the next ball over Usama Mir’s head for a six, raising his half-century off 35 balls. Four balls later, Delport was stumped.

When Bopara entered on the stage he struck with his first ball having caught Chris Gayle behind for 37. Bopara also sent back Dwayne Bravo for a duck in the same over. Bopara did not strike in his second over, but took three wickets in four balls in his third over to kill the chase. The Qalanders were in the slumps at 122 for 6 from 98 for 0. Bopara then took the wicket of Umar Akmal to destroy all hopes of winning the match for the man read and black.

Bopara was the star with the bat as well, providing the late thrust with his 24th and second successive fifty, which included three fours and four sixes. Bopara’s late blows set the momentum for the Kings. Mushfiqar Rahim who was playing his first match of the PSL smashed 33 runs of the last 2 overs to lead his side to 178, which was 27 runs more than enough for the win.

Peace Out,

The Cornered Tiger
