Today the Kings beat Qalanders by 7 wickets. Here is the ball-by-ball analysis and scorecard of the match.
Pakistani fast bowler Mohammed Amir made his first appearance of the tournamnet and stole the limelight and caused havoc in just 3 balls by taking a hatrick and empowering the Kings to a 7 wicket victory over the Qalanders.
Amir made his international come-back after a 5 year ban, against New Zealand in a recent series. His own bowling couch said that ” was not at his best, but getting there”. Today Amir got there when he smashed the middle stump of Dwayne Bravo out the ground, had Zohaib Khan caught behind after playing a useless shot and trapped Kevon Cooper LBW in front of his stumps in the 19th over and restricted the score of the Qalanders to a below par 125.
However, before Amir took his quick blows Lahore did not have much momentum in the match and were barely going at 6 an over. Mohammed Rizwan showed some resistance by making 37 of 31 balls but had no support what so ever from the other end. The likes of Chris Gayle, Azhar Ali, Cameron Delpoort and Sohaib Maqsood were not able to make good to their starts.
Karachi had little trouble knocking off the small total, as despite losing two early wickets, fifties from Lendl Simmons and Shakib Al Hasan guided the team home inside 16 overs. Simmons struck eight fours and two sixes for his 62 not out, while Shakib’s 35-ball 51 featured three fours and sixes each; the pair added 109 runs for the third wicket.
